2/13 Meeting Notes

Hello pretties!

We hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day and are staying dry this week! This week's meeting went over some upcoming events! First of all, this Sunday is Kappa Phi Sunday, a national tradition where you go with your sisters to church! It will be this Sunday at Grace Bible Church Southwood (their newer campus) at 11:00 at their college service. When you're approaching the building, the college service is the door to your left. It's small, so you shouldn't have trouble finding Meredith or Chelsea. Head out to worship with your sisters and maybe grab some lunch! Directions can be found on the Grace website.

We have moved our Spring Retreat to April 13-14th so as not to conflict with Parents' Weekend or Ring Day. It will be Friday evening to noon on Saturday, and will be held at social chair Kate Maynard's home about an hour away! Carpooling and a packing list will be discussed later. Mark your calendars now as this is a mandatory event!

It's intramural sports season! All you ladies who are interested in playing a sport with your fellow Kappa Phis, comment on Athletic Chair Valerie's facebook post. Volleyball and Kickball are the two being discussed as of now--just one more way to spend time with your sisters! It's cheap and you can plan what time for games works best for you.

Service opportunities are close at hand, so put them on your calendar and check off some of your 10 hours. Let Service Chair Katie know if you're interested in handing out water to runners at the Armadillo Dash on March 4 any time from 7-11 am. Big Event is March 24, and one of Kappa Phi's favorite things to do together; signing up for it will be available soon.

In closing:

-Everyone congratulate our new fundraising co-chair, Amanda Coffman! Props to her for getting involved her very first semester!

-If you want to order a Kappa Phi fleece, contact Christy immediately and respond to her Wiggio post. Turn your dues in to her as soon as possible!

-If you're a pledge and have not been added to Wiggio, email Anne and ask her to add you! Request someone to add you to the facebook page as well if you haven't already.

-Next week's meeting is Bible Study, so bring your Bibles!

Everyone have an outstanding week!

2/6 Meeting

Howdy KPs!

We all survived rush! A warm welcome to our fabulous new girls, Whitney, Ashlee, Aly, Sara, Emily, Amanda, Kaitlyn, and Laura! We are so excited that y'all are beginning your Kappa Phi experience, and hope the pledge experience is fun!

This week was our first meeting, so as usual detailed meeting notes will be posted here for all you ladies that can't attend or need reminders on when things are happening!
  • Service opportunities are coming our way! Big Event is March 24th, so get prepared to bond with your sisters and knock out several service hours in one day! Relay for life is April 20th, so keep that in mind as well.
  • We discussed the Kappa Phi facebook page, and in attempt to reduce traffic and excessive notifications, only executive officers may now post on the wall. If you have a question, check the blog, facebook page and website before contacting a friend or officer with your question.
  • Just a reminder--no cellphones during meetings! Texting or facebook can wait an hour.
  • It's a fresh start for attendance, so make sure you save your 3 unexcused absences for your busy weeks! You must notify Lizzi at eberry1614@neo.tamu.edu of your absence excuse 24 hours in advance. Work, tutoring, class, sickness, family emergencies, etc are all excused, visiting family and friends, studying, etc are not.
  • Meredith has blue rush shirts! They are $14, you can pick them up at her house.
  • Dues are due! $100 for pledges, $85 for actives. Give them to Christy by the next meeting and make sure you don't owe Kappa Phi anything from last semester!
Last but not least, small groups have begun! These are really the backbone of Kappa Phi, and so they are mandatory. There are plenty of options to choose from, so here they are:

Everyone have a wonderful week!
